Trip essentials
- FCDO advises against all but essential travel to 7 Coastal Region provinces: Esmeraldas, Manabí, Santa Elena, Guayas, El Oro, Los Ríos, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas
- Airside transit through Guayaquil Airport (Guayas province) is exempt from the coastal travel restriction
- Travel within 20km of the Ecuador-Colombia border is advised against, except El Ángel Reserve, Rumichaca crossing, Tulcán town and the Pan-American Highway in Carchi
- Travel insurance may be void if you travel to areas where FCDO advises against travel
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the entry date, otherwise boarding may be denied
- Spanish citizens can stay up to 90 days without a visa; longer stays require a visa obtained in advance
- Executive Decrees declaring states of exception may suspend rights to home inviolability and freedom of assembly
